A Hero's Journey goes Audible.

It was a long time coming but A Hero's Journey:Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp has been made into an audiobook. Yes we are excited by the possibilities of this growing market as people are listening to books while they drive, walk, or any other activity. We are also glad that Olympians the world over don't have to get a physical book to enjoy the journeys of so many heroes and that through the audiobook version the Olympia community can grow to include so many others.

All it took was an idea and a push by a couple of allies. Good friends Steve and Rosalia Butz live in BC and love long-distance driving. They told us of the benefits of listening to audiobooks and that I should give it a try. They also said that if the author does the narration it has more impact. So we explored the world of audiobooks by joining Audible.

With all the driving of the Tour Of Olympia Joy and I found that listening to an audiobook makes the miles disappear, as the journey of the book becomes the language of your journey. Not only that, but an audiobook can be picked up and listened to for any length of time, not just when driving across the country or to the many places we visited on our Tour. A few pages while driving around town or just sitting at home and listening to a book rather than reading it.

As a lesson for me, and others, this is yet another path that the journey of this book has taken me on that I never saw coming. As stated, this audiobook project took a while as I decided to do the narration on my own. Yes, indeed a bat off the shoulder moment. The audiobook is over 23 hours long. That means that I narrated those 23 hours and then had to edit the entire book by listening to the entire 23 hours. There were a couple of sound issues that came up, only to test how badly I wanted to accomplish this goal. This truly feels like a dragon that needed to be slayed on my journey, and I hope people enjoy the finished product.
