Sign Up Today! Olympia Sports Camp celebrates 50 Years

The first long weekend of the Summer goes by two different names. It's either Victoria Day or it's May 2-4. In the summer of 2023 it will be known in some circles as Olympia's 50th. There has been a committee discussing this for a few months now and the plans are in place for a fantastic weekend of re-living life on Oxbow Lake. It also will be a time for A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp to grow its legacy, capturing so much of the lore of life at Interlaken. We are looking forward to a great weekend on both counts. 


The information below has been taken from  the Olympia site. Many thanks to all those on the committee and many thanks to Matt Price for putting the itinerary together and Michelle Stockstill for getting it out to the masses. It's great that there are options available, as some people may be able to only come for a day while others are able to take in the whole weekend. This is a big event for the whole camp as it celebrates being one of the longest-lasting summer camps in Canadian history. Hope to see you there!!

    Thanks Chris for sending this out! I know Dave is very excited about seeing everyone at Olympia this May 2-4 weekend . I bet he will even remember everyone's name and the school they went to!

In the summer of 2019,  Blaine Scatcherd  was introducing himself at the opening meeting of week 5 and told the assembly of coaches that he worked as a counsellor at Olympia for 4 ¾ years. People who knew the story, including Dave Grace, roared with laughter at the self-effacing honesty Blaine showed when recounting an incident that may have been the worst in his career, yet a defining moment that changed him forever and made him a better teacher and coach, and a better person.    Blaine Scatcherd is from Ottawa, where he was coached in football at Glebe Collegiate Institute by Olympia coach Skip Riddell. They say that a picture tells a thousand words. How about two pictures? In the writing of A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp I got to interview a lot of people dedicated to Olympia and to the vision of Dave Grace.
