Today is Tuesday December 8 2020. This is my first entry to my new blog entitled Tuesday's With Dave. I got this idea when I met with Olympia founder and director Dave Grace about my upcoming book A Hero's Journey: From Little Norway to Olympia Sports Camp. I'm calling the blog Tuesday's With Dave to mimic the great book, and movie, Tuesday's with Morrie by Mitch Albom.

I will be using this blog as a vehicle to spread the word about my book, OUR book, and will be putting excerpts from the book to show just what the book, about the place and people that make up Camp Olympia, is all about.

I like saying the line that when it comes to computers I know a lot about basketball. If anyone who reads this has ideas on how to spruce this blog up and create more traffic to it let me know. Email me at coachdools71@gmail.com. I hope to connect this blog to the Olympia Family in as many ways as possible My goal with this book is to honour Dave and all the people who have made up the history of Camp. The interviews and stories I have collected are going to make for an interesting all-encompassing perspective of life in Interlaken.

One of the interesting chapters in the book is called "The Soul Of Olympia. This idea, taken from Chicken Soup for The Soul books, was the idea of great friend Rich MacPherson, where people write their own personal stories and their name gets put to it. The stories, just like the people, are amazing and will make the book so personal to all who wrote stories and all who can relate to the stories. I have stories that will astonish the reader with their honesty and inspirational thoughts on the affect that Olympia had on their lives. I also have room for more stories if anyone wants to add to the culture  of the book.

Last week Dave and I had a three hour meeting at the office in Markham.  It was good to see him well and motivated after all the crap he must have gone through in the summer that wasn't...2020. It was also great to connect with Rebecca, whose story will add to the fabric of the past. present, and future of the camp. Dave and I talked at length about my project and his tremendous interest and support he has shown me. Typical Dave, if you have an idea he will let you run with it and will help in any way he can. Hoe many of us can relate to that?

This blog is just one of the ideas that sprung from that meeting. Hope you enjoy. Below is a picture of the father of a Week 7 coach...Who gave me an inspiring story
