The Tour Of Olympia goes, and grows, through Allies

Oh the people we get to meet on our journey. Jackie Zicaro has been an ally of mine for a very long time. She is actually an ally to many, because that is her life's direction and true passion. She is one of the coaches whose journey is explored in A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp. She is a highly successful teacher and coach in York Region. She is a National Level coaching course facilitator.

Jackie continues to model the hero's return and giving of her talents for the good of others. She coaches both of her daughters Taylor and Siera and runs skills sessions, camps and Girls Got Game programs in the Newmarket area. A hero on a journey. Her husband Joe is a successful ultimate frisbee coach and an honorary lady of leisure for week 7 at Olympia.

And I was lucky enough to have coached Jackie in high school. Impact others and you get impacted tenfold. I'm honoured to say that I knew her when. Much more on this amazing professional is available in the book. Just another reason to check it out.

This weekend Jackie has offered to promote my book and provide a vehicle to spread the word and help me sell books at a tournament she is running in Woodbridge. I'll be there on Saturday from 10-3. It's one of a few events coming up. We have one in Stratford this Sunday, organized by our former Olympia babysitter Kim Hurley and Olympia legend Rob Simmons, and one in Toronto on Sunday April 16, organized by Greg Rogers. We hope a lot of people in the city will make it out to Yonge and Sheppard. These events are building toward Olympia's 50th anniversary reunion on May 19-22, where the book will be a big part of the celebration. For reunion information check out the following link.

The 50th anniversary weekend schedule is taking shape and the book launch will take place at 4pm on the Saturday. I love the fact that people can come for the whole weekend or come for a day. Here's hoping a lot of people decide to take a drive to Interlaken on Saturday May 20 to take a trip down memory lane in more ways than one. Much more detail will be coming out in the Tuesdays ahead.

If you can't make it up for the reunion weekend, maybe one of the events coming up can give you a chance to get a book and have a mini Olympia reunion. If that's doesn't work for you, check out our website at aherosjourney.ca
