Joy and I have spent the last month in Maricopa, Arizona. We are very fortunate to be able to get away and we had a great time in the Valley of the Sun. The book process involved editing my audiobook and preparing for the next stage of our journey. We hope still to continue on our Tour of Olympia.
That Tour Of Olympia will be part of the build up for the 50th Anniversary celebrations for Olympia Sports Camp and the role that A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp will play. Plans are already in the works for the May 24 event. When I started this book three and half years ago I wasn't aware of the great timing a release of a book about the people and place that is Olympia as the camp prepares to celebrate its 50th year would be.
A cool moment took place on Saturday when Joy took books back to the Burlington Library and lo and behold she saw this. Not something that is needed to boost the ego in our societal scorecard, it is very gratifying and humbling when something you have worked on for so long bears the respect of the library and the place as a local author. Authors often feel alone on their journey, but I thank the local library, the people who have hosted Tour Of Olympia events, people who have bought the book, people who have provided testimonials about the book, people who comment on the Tuesdays With Dave blog, and others who have supported the in other ways. Especially people who have bought the book and are excited to take a trip down memory lane that the book provides. We all need, and have, allies along our journey.
