I never have met Ally Dunham ( yet)  I admire Ally Dunham. Here's a compliment;  She's like her mom. You'll have to read the book ( at least page 155-159) to get the whole story but the words that Ally wrote after her mother Kelly's  death took us all on a journey of understanding and love for the woman we lost but also showed  the beauty and strength of her daughter. Ally's journey continues despite the trauma of losing her mother, a mentor to hundreds and a deep, deep friend to so many. To see what Ally wrote on Facebook last week makes the journey I am on feel very worth it. I hope that people enjoy and learn about themselves through reading A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp , but it really hit home when Ally got her copy of the book and read the beautiful journey of her mom and her aunt Marnie. And then felt the need to let me know what the story meant to her. The impact of the two most important influences on her young life is

I know it's not Tuesday but some things just can't wait. We've been working toward this moment for three and a half years, and that moment is here. I'm humbled that I was able to capture so many beautiful stories and lessons from some fantastic leaders throughout the history of Olympia Sports Camp. This truly is OUR book. The key word in the title, in my mind, is Beyond. We are all part of an interconnected community that is much bigger than ourselves, and this book takes us on a journey that is beyond the here and now, and beyond the 50 year history of the camp. The values that we have learned through Olympia and our own journey are echoed through the lives of so many people that came before us. The reader will learn a lot about themselves by exploring the journey of others.  Embrace the Journey! The book is available through the following link: https://books.friesenpress.com/store/title/119734000114201182 But they are also available with a personal touch at the offic

As stated, last week Joy and I were up at Olympia for a couple of days. The meeting I had with Dave and Greg, just three Olympians sitting at a picnic table as hundreds of Olympians have done, was awe-inspiring and very informative but came with a challenge. I smile because I know there are so many Olympia veterans who can relate to this. Dave quite simply wanted me to explain why someone should buy this book. Caught off guard, I tried my very best. When I was done, Dave said, "can you put that in writing?"  Challenge accepted.   Why Buy “ A Hero’s Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp”   The idea for this project started as a history of the people that make up the 50-year span of Olympia, with the amazing journey of the Norwegian Air Force use of the land during WW 11, but it grew to be so much more, with lessons and perspectives to help guide so many people, young and old, on their journey. This is a story that must be read.   In 1949 Joseph Campbell wrote “

Last posting we announced that the book A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp is officially for sale. The book can be purchased at the following link: https://books.friesenpress.com/store/title/119734000114201182   But for Olympians and other friends who want to get a book and share an Olympia moment we have other ways to make that happen. The launch at Olympia and the "tour of Olympia." Joy and I spent a couple of days at Olympia Sports Camp this week and met with Dave Grace and Greg Rogers, with much planning for the launch of the book and connecting it to the 50th anniversary of the camp in 2023. When I started this book I had no inkling at all of the timing of completion but now it is perfect as the camp celebrates the most special of anniversaries.  Dave and Greg both loved the book's cover and are excited to host the official launch on Sunday October 9th from 2-4 pm as part of their Thanksgiving Family Weekend. It's still very early

I know its not Tuesday but the official announcement did come this Tuesday. I'm proud to announce that A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp is now available for sale. It is very humbling to think that more than three years of work has led to this moment and even more humbling to know is that this moment only leads me to the next part of my journey. People can purchase the book through my publishers at the following link: https://books.friesenpress.com/store/title/119734000114201182 The price they list does not include shipping.  With the end of the summer of 2022 Tuesdays with Dave wants to congratulate Dave Grace and Greg Rogers and all their staff for a job well done. In the hero's journey, following the process will lead to desired outcomes. After two years of upheaval and no camps, 2022 was a key year in the journey of Olympia Sports Camp. Judging by the fine work on social media and the posts sent by people who got to enjoy life on Interlaken this summer, two truths can and must be stated: many young people got to enjoy a week to learn about themselves and where their journey may take them, and seeds have been planted for a great 2023, when the camp will be celebrating its 50th year. The hero always thinking forward with planning and a great deal of hope, these two fine men are heroes, and we thank them. The thoughts on Dave and Greg also conjures up an amazing story in chapter 2 of A Hero's Journey: Beyond Little Norway and Olympia Sports Camp of how these two great leaders met and formed a rel
